Personal development, health and physical education

Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.

According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per week in Kindergarten to Year 6.

PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.

Gala Days

Campbellfield Public School offers great sporting opportunities for our students inside and outside the school.

Besides our weekly programmed class sport each Friday our students represent our school at The Fields (our Zone Area) Gala Day held twice a term. In Terms 1 and 4 our students participate in Gala Day Oz Tag. We have Junior (years 3-4) teams and Senior (years 5-6) teams. In Terms 2 and 3 our students participate in netball and soccer at Gala Day. We have Junior and Senior teams for these sports as well.

Sports Carnivals

In Term 1, Campbellfield Public School students participate in the Minto Community of Schools swimming carnival. Competitive swimmers participate in this swimming carnival to have the opportunity to represent our school in The Fields Zone Swimming Carnival.

Towards the end of Term 1 we hold our K-6 Cross Country Carnival. Students from 8 years of age to 13 years of age who qualify are given the opportunity to represent our school at The Fields Zone Cross Country held in Term 2

. In Term 2, we hold our Athletics Carnival at Campbelltown Athletics Centre. The Athletics Carnival is a whole school event which is held at the Campbelltown Athletics Centre, Leumeah.

This event allows all students to participate in athletic activities such as shot put, discus, high jump, long jump and track events. We also hold novelty events for our infants students including, egg and spoon races and obstacle courses.

Students who are 8 years of age to 13 years of age with the qualifying times and distances have the opportunity to represent our school at The Fields Zone Track and Field events held in Term 3 at Campbelltown Athletics Centre.
