High potential and gifted education
At our school, we are committed to recognising and nurturing the diverse talents, strengths and abilities of all students. High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) ensures that students who show advanced potential in one or more domains — intellectual, creative, social-emotional or physical are challenged, supported and engaged in their learning.
Our Commitment
We believe every student deserves learning experiences that enable them to thrive. For students demonstrating high potential or giftedness, we provide targeted opportunities that extend, enrich and accelerate learning where appropriate. Our approach is evidence-based, inclusive and aligned with the NSW Department of Education’s HPGE Policy and Framework.

Opening doors to wider experiences
Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.
What is high potential and gifted education?
High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.
Our teachers:
- use a range of assessment tools and professional observations to identify student strengths;
- design differentiated and responsive learning programs;
- provide enrichment and extension tasks that promote deeper thinking;
- offer opportunities for flexible progression or acceleration when appropriate;
- engage students in complex problem-solving, creative thinking and independent learning;
- complete ongoing professional learning in high potential and gifted education.
We work to create learning environments that are inclusive, supportive and intellectually stimulating, enabling students to take risks, explore new ideas and achieve at high levels.
Across the school, students have access to a broad range of programs and experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom. These may include:
- academic competitions and challenges
- enrichment clubs and interest groups
- creative and performing arts programs
- sports pathways and representative opportunities
- leadership and student voice initiatives
- school-wide showcases, performances and exhibitions
These programs allow students to pursue personal interests, demonstrate capabilities and develop confidence in a variety of learning domains.
Help for your high potential child
We value strong connections with families and recognise the important role they play in nurturing student potential. Parents and carers are encouraged to contact the school if they have questions or would like to discuss their child’s learning needs. If your child shows signs of high potential, contact us. We can share how our HPGE support can guide their learning journey.
